Feeding America estimates that over 42 million people in the U.S. experienced food insecurity in 2021. In Niagara County alone, the food insecurity rate was 12.8%, higher than the national average.

The Food Bank of WNY and Meals on Wheels for WNY have joined forces to become FeedMore WNY. Their mission is to offer dignity, hope, and a brighter future by providing nutritious food, friendship, and skills training to our WNY neighbors in need. - Niagara Falls Local Food Action Plan >
In practice, the Niagara Falls Local Food Action Plan will be a road map for improving the entire local food system in the City of Niagara Falls, from production to consumption. Food insecurity is defined as a lack of consistent access to enough food for every person in a household to live an active, healthy life. This can be a temporary situation for a household or can last a long time. Food insecurity is one way we can measure how many people cannot afford food. More than 38 million people, including 12 million children face food insecurity in the United States.
