Heart, Love & Soul Welcomes WGRZ’s Alexandra Rios-Malviya

Heart, Love & Soul had the honor of hosting Alexandra Rios-Malviya, a reporter from WGRZ – Channel 2, Buffalo, at our community center yesterday. Her visit brought much-needed attention to the growing demand in our food pantry and highlighted the incredible efforts of our staff and volunteers in meeting these challenges.

The Story of Us

During her visit, Alexandra interviewed Executive Director Mark Baetzhold, Pantry Manager Theresa Garner, and Versie, a devoted volunteer and community member. They discussed the rising need for food assistance driven by economic uncertainties and the rising cost of living.

Mark and Theresa shared how Heart, Love & Soul goes beyond providing meals by creating a space of dignity and hope for those we serve. Versie offered a heartfelt perspective, reflecting on the power of kindness and community support. The visit also featured a memorable moment when Versie shared his musical talent through an impromptu piano performance, a highlight of the day.

Shining a Light on Community Needs

The story aired multiple times on Channel 2’s newscasts, beautifully capturing the mission of Heart, Love & Soul and the collaborative efforts to address food insecurity in our community.

We are deeply grateful to Alexandra Rios-Malviya for her kindness and dedication to sharing our story. Her visit not only brought awareness to the challenges faced by many in our area but also underscored the strength and compassion that define our response.
